'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and the defender immediately converted the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an extraordinary turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the second half. In the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result earned a upcoming match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about way out going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right defensive wing after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the City players who complimented the way Orient approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they always find their target and they understand how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're all right and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be alert every second of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has quickly replicated that in Wales. At Orient he reunited with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division Salford City, before he departed Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has shown that growth for both domestically and internationally, performing well for his national side, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including both legs fixtures against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This marks a remarkable path for the kid from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, his father, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was shut owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a long trip and it was freezing," he recalls, smiling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. Franco is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
