19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Now training with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.
It is the player's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.
Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to get a title is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.
The player's defensive strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved service.
The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.
Moutet saved 4 early opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
